Walton Goggins and Pedro Pascal’s enduring camaraderie is a beautiful reflection of how genuine friendships can thrive amid the spotlight of Hollywood. Each actor has followed a unique path, earning critical acclaim and fan admiration along the way.
Goggins first gained attention with his role as a morally complex detective on The Shield, and later as the unforgettable Boyd Crowder in Justified, alongside Timothy Olyphant. His versatility continued to shine in projects like The Righteous Gemstones, Fallout, and season three of The White Lotus. On the big screen, he brought depth and charisma to films including The Accountant, Predators, The Hateful Eight, and Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Pascal, on the other hand, rose to fame as the charismatic Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones. He went on to lead major hits such as Narcos, The Mandalorian, and The Last of Us, while building an impressive film résumé with titles like Wonder Woman 1984, Gladiator II, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
In 2024, the two actors finally shared the screen in The Uninvited, a gripping film centered on a mysterious stranger who disrupts a social gathering. Speaking to Variety, Goggins reflected on the project, saying, “I’ve seen my friends’ mistakes. I’ve seen the decisions they’ve made, both to be involved in something and then to not be involved. But the more opportunities you get to play pretend, the better you become at it.”
Goggins acknowledged Pascal’s steady influence during his own rise in Hollywood, appreciating how Pascal balanced growing fame with humility. Their collaboration on The Uninvited was particularly special, as it was directed by Goggins’ wife, Nadia Conners.
During promotion, Goggins was asked whether he leaned on Pascal for advice while preparing for Fallout, a video game adaptation that drew inevitable comparisons to Pascal’s role in The Last of Us. In an interview with The Guardian, he responded, “I didn’t. He’s a good friend of mine, but I didn’t talk to him about my experience. I talked to him about his because I was blown away by what he did.” Goggins added, “Obviously, we were talking when he was in Canada, hearing about the great time he had, but I didn’t ask, ‘So what does it mean to make a successful game adaptation?’ I can’t speak for Pedro, but I doubt he woke up every morning feeling that pressure either.”
In May 2024, Goggins shared a heartfelt photo on Instagram with Pascal and fellow actor Sam Rockwell, captioned, “Even paradise can get lonely… Had cause to go through and assemble some photos this morning. Came across so many dear friends. Gatdamn I miss y’all… and these two. I miss and love you boys so much!! My friend @piperperabo turned me onto this quote years ago by Lilian Whiting… ‘To be rich in friends is to be poor in nothing.’ Truth.”
As 2025 unfolded, Goggins captivated viewers with his role as Rick in The White Lotus, which he described to The Observer as “the Super Bowl of culture.” He spoke about wanting to honor the magnitude of the experience while navigating creator Mike White’s ambitious vision.
When asked if he sought advice from Pascal about dealing with rising fame, Goggins shared, “I don’t usually have those conversations with my friends. Pedro Pascal is a dear friend, and he’s been living this for two or three years now… I suppose he would be the first person I would call, you know. I would have reached out if I thought I needed an intervention.”
Their bond fueled by mutual admiration, creative collaboration, and heartfelt support offers a meaningful example of how real friendships can endure even within the whirlwind of show business.
