Uche Ojeh was battling an “aggressive” form of brain cancer.
The ‘Today’ show community is engulfed in sadness as they mourn the passing of Uche Ojeh, beloved husband of anchor Sheinelle Jones, at the age of 45 after a courageous battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.
“It is with the deepest sorrow that we share Uche Ojeh’s passing following his brave and fierce fight…”
— Savannah Guthrie, on-air
On Friday morning, co-hosts Craig Melvin, Al Roker, and Dylan Dreyer paid heartfelt tributes, recalling Ojeh’s warmth, wit, and unwavering love for his family. Melvin held back tears as he remembered Uche’s devotion to his children, while Roker reflected on his kind spirit and humility.
🕊 A Life Remembered
Uche met Sheinelle at Northwestern University—their love story began with a rainy proposal on campus and a wedding in 2007. Together, they raised three children: Kayin (15) and twins Clara & Uche (12).
Sheinelle’s extended absence from Today since December 2024 now holds deeper meaning. At the time, she mentioned a “family health matter” but offered no details. On Instagram, she later wrote:
“I am acutely aware of how fortunate I am to have the unwavering support of my ‘Today’ show family and your kind thoughts.”
