From its debut on Broadway in March 1993, Kiss of the Spider Woman gained instantaneous acclaim from critics and theatergoers alike. Drawn from Manuel Puig’s 1976 narrative, the musical boasts the iconic creative genius of Kander and Ebb, whose legacies are anchored in Chicago and Cabaret, paired with a book by Tony Award luminary Terrence McNally. Garnering seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and honoring Chita Rivera’s original portrayal, the production secured its lasting status as an evocative, beguiling theatrical masterpiece.
