Zoe Saldana and sons.
Her boys, looking dapper in harmonious attire, joined her for this significant milestone, embodying a quintessential family affair. This much-anticipated film is set to debut in theaters on June 20.
Tuesday, June 10, marked a delightful evening in Los Angeles as the 46-year-old actress, accompanied by her sons 10-year-old twins Bowie and Cy, and Zen, 8 graced the premiere of Elio. The boys exuded style in matching navy blazers, crisp white button-downs, complemented by dark blue jeans and sporty sneakers. Meanwhile, Saldaña stunned in a sophisticated brown turtleneck blouse paired with a mustard pencil skirt, brown shoes, and a bold red lip, rounding off her elegant ensemble perfectly.
Saldaña’s family outing follows her recent admission about gaining ‘cool points’ from her sons by starring in children’s movies. In an appearance on Good Morning America on June 4, she enthusiastically discussed her involvement in Disney’s kid-focused film. She elaborated, “Since becoming a parent, incorporating what I do my art into a genre that caters to children has always been of great interest to me… And I get to relate to them, and also earn some mad cool points as a mom.” She further shared, “My 8-year-old cannot wait for Elio to come out.”
In a heartfelt disclosure, the proud mom reflected on how the story of Elio resonated with her family. “They immediately bought into the story,” she remarked, revealing how universal themes of identity and belonging had captured their imaginations.
The film, Elio, contains a captivating narrative focusing on “a space fanatic with an active imagination who finds himself on a cosmic misadventure, where he must form new bonds with alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions, and ultimately, discover who he is truly meant to be,” according to IMDb’s synopsis. Saldaña’s involvement in the film is shared with actors Yonas Kibreab and Remy Edgerly, under the direction of Adrian Molina.
Fresh off her triumph at the 2025 Oscars, where she won Best Supporting Actress for Emilia Perez, Saldaña expressed her desire to reconnect with her family during her downtime. In sharing this intimate moment, she confided, “The moment everything was over, I just wanted to go back home, take my kids to school, and be more present… Through their eyes, I grasp the impact of such recognition and what it signifies for everyone.”
With the promise of family, adventure, and profound storytelling, Elio seeks to illuminate hearts as it lands in theaters on June 20.
