Evan Rachel Wood and Jamie Bell have crafted an inventive custody agreement for their son, Jack, navigating the challenges of living in two separate states. Us Weekly exclusively reports on the unique arrangement drawn up by the former couple.
A New Agreement Amid Changing Circumstances
On September 9, Wood, 38, submitted court documents delineating the novel custody plan developed with Bell, 39, for their son, Jack, during the 2025/2026 school year. The pair, who exchanged vows in 2012 and separated in 2014, welcomed Jack in 2013.
The agreement sees Wood, residing in Tennessee, and Bell, who relocated from Los Angeles to New York in August, sharing joint legal and physical custody. Jack will alternate living with each parent monthly, shifting between Tennessee and New York every four weeks. Bell is also permitted to visit Jack while he is in Tennessee.
Details of the Custody Plan
Wood and Bell meticulously outlined how holidays and summer vacations would be handled. They agreed to equally share the expenses of Jack’s travel between homes, with each parent choosing who will accompany their son during flights.
The agreement extends the autonomy of both parents by allowing them to decide on Jack’s activities during his time with them. Additionally, they will each have two calls per week with Jack while he is with the other parent.
The deal states: \\”The parties acknowledge and agree that at this time they are entering into this [judgment], each party has sufficient assets and income to support Jack according to his reasonable needs while Jack is in\\” their custody.
Evolving Custody Dynamics
Previously, in 2023, Wood adjusted the custody arrangement to enable Jack to reside briefly with Bell in Los Angeles. Around this time, Wood, the Westworld actress, publicly accused her former boyfriend, Marilyn Manson, of abuse, which he denied. In related court documents, Wood expressed fear of retribution, stating, “I am extremely afraid of the alleged offender. I have suffered a severe, traumatic physical and emotional injury at his hands, and I am afraid that he will seek retribution against me for testifying by harming me, our son, and members of our family.”
Bell also filed documents alleging Wood interfered with his custodial rights. He stated, “Whatever fears Evan may have regarding third parties should have nothing to do with me or custody of our son.”
Moving Forward Harmoniously
Despite past challenges, Wood and Bell demonstrate a concerted effort to resolve their issues for Jack’s welfare.
Since his relationship with Wood, Bell married actress Kate Mara in 2017, and the couple shares two children. Earlier this year, Bell and Mara placed their Los Angeles house on the market for $4.98 million.
