Journalist Michael Wolff has taken legal action against First Lady Melania Trump, charging that she attempted to obstruct the publication of his revealing new book on her life.
Allegations Against Melania
Michael Wolff, the seasoned journalist behind several books on President Donald Trump, claims Melania Trump has “deliberately and maliciously” interfered with the release of his upcoming book, The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump (Redux). According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Wolff accuses her of making defamatory statements and blocking his investigation into her alleged ties with Jeffrey Epstein.
This lawsuit marks an unprecedented legal move against a sitting first lady. Melania allegedly engaged in scaring off international distributors by accusing Wolff of fabricating interviews, intimidating his sources, and propagating “lies for profit.”
Threats and Intimidation
Wolff further asserts that Melania instructed a PR firm to issue threats of legal action to media outlets considering coverage of his book. Documents viewed by The Wrap indicate that Melania allegedly demanded Wolff apologize for what she described as “false, defamatory, disparaging, misleading and inflammatory statements” regarding her connection to the Epstein scandal. She purportedly threatened him with a $1 billion lawsuit.
Among the shocking assertions that Melania disputes is Wolff’s claim that her first intimate encounter with Donald Trump took place on Epstein’s private jet.
Legal Pushback
In response, Wolff’s attorney defends the journalist’s work as addressing significant questions and mentions Wolff’s interest in possibly authoring a book solely about Epstein.
The complaint stresses that “Mrs. Trump and her ‘unitary executive’ husband along with their MAGA myrmidons” habitually threaten those who oppose them with costly legal actions aimed at stifling free speech. These actions, the complaint suggests, are part of broader attempts to silence critics and disrupt inquiries into the Epstein affair.
Wolff is pressing the court to bar Melania from further threats and seeks punitive damages. In addition, he aims to have both Melania and Donald Trump testify under oath about their links to Epstein.
“As a reporter, I’ve never had the opportunity to ask someone questions when their answers have to be given under an oath and in the presence of a court reporter,” Wolff stated to the Daily Beast. “I look forward to asking Melania and Donald Trump about the matters at issue in this case including their relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.”

Continuing Tensions with the Trump Family
This legal confrontation is the latest chapter in Wolff’s ongoing disputes with the Trump family. Previously, former President Donald Trump lambasted Wolff as a “Third Rate Reporter, who is laughed at even by the scoundrels of the Fake News” on Truth Social.
