Recalling a memorable moment from her acting career, Tohn described filming for The Closer, a police procedural led by Kyra Sedgwick. \\”I did an episode of The Closer a million years ago, and I was a makeup artist and they put me in a leopard stretch skirt that was so short my butt cheeks were almost out,\\” she recounted. Her efforts to maintain modesty became a comedic struggle. \\”The whole day… I was pulling it and pulling it, and they were like, ‘Hey stop pulling it,’\\” she said. \\”And it was like, ‘My buns are out on [TNT]’ or whatever channel it was.\\”

Despite occasionally uncomfortable costumes, Tohn embraces these moments, seeing them as opportunities to bolster her performance. \\”I think of course you have to be the character, and even tonight, I’m in this revealing… whatever. But I feel comfy,\\” she shared. \\”It doesn’t feel outside my body.\\”

Reflecting on her character Esther from Nobody Wants This, known for her trademark turtleneck, Tohn emphasizes how costumes inform her portrayal. \\”I also think it informs the performance a lot. What you’re wearing and who you are,\\” she noted.

Tohn has previously discussed Esther’s bold hairstyle choice—getting blunt bangs—as significant for the character’s journey, particularly during a tense period with her husband Sasha, portrayed by Timothy Simons. Esther opted for the bangs amid deliberations about having another baby, debuting the style during a double date scene in season 2.

The hairstyle change was reminiscent for Tohn, who remarked on having a similar cut for many years. \\”I had that identical haircut for a decade,\\” Tohn revealed. \\”So I wasn’t like, ‘Oh my God, I’ve never seen myself like this.’ I was like, ‘Oh, right.’\\”

Although Tohn found Esther’s drastic style shift entertaining, she prefers temporary clip-ins over enduring the trials of maintaining bangs in real life. \\”I was like, ‘I would love it if I didn’t,’\\” she said, choosing flexibility over a permanent change. \\”Bangs are so hard, and they’re so hard to grow out, and I feel like they’re such a look that… I want to be able to do more [with my hair].\\”
