Zac Brown Joins ‘The Voice’ Season 28
On Oct. 23, NBC announced that Zac Brown would take on the role of a mega mentor for the 28th season of ‘The Voice.’ Ahead of the official reveal, the frontman of the Zac Brown Band shared insights about this experience with PEOPLE, expressing how the set felt like a natural fit for him.
\\”Some of those singers are way better singers than I am,\\” Brown admits. \\”But that’s the great thing about music—it’s like being an X-Men. They have these superpowers, but they have to figure out all the life skills, business skills, discipline, perseverance, and learn all these things too.\\”
Zac Brown, Country Singer
He reflected on the role of mentorship and mutual growth, saying, \\”I mean, I think in the best case, we’re all expanders for each other. As humans, we try to sharpen each other, we try to help each other. But I was definitely inspired, and it makes me want to be a better singer.\\”
Wisdom from Michael and Snoop
In his mentoring role, Brown works alongside Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg, sharing in the vibrant exchange of wisdom. For the ‘Chicken Fried’ singer, their guidance resonated deeply.
\\”I really love the wisdom that they were sharing with everybody because most of it resonated perfectly with me and what I felt and what I was thinking,\\”

Learning ‘Snoopisms’
Brown humorously noted picking up several of Snoop Dogg’s unique expressions, or as he calls them, \\”Snoopisms.\\”
\\”Like sharp as a mosquito’s needle. I don’t know. There’s a hundred that I’ve heard today,\\” he shares, admiring the authenticity of both Bublé and Snoop. \\”So I think just really seeing their heart, both of them, Michael and Snoop. Those are my people.\\”

Keeping an Open Mind
As he embarked on this journey, Brown emphasized the importance of staying open-minded, stating, \\”The older that I get, the less expectations that I try to have. Because then if it’s not exactly what you think, then you might be disappointed.\\” He added that embracing whatever happens naturally has been valuable: \\”So coming here and just flowing with everybody, it’s been a great day. It was an inspiring day. I got to hear some amazing talent and got to work with some incredible artists.\\”
BALANCING ROLES: EDUCATOR AND FATHER
A father of five, Brown finds that his role on ‘The Voice’ aligns seamlessly with his real-life experiences nurturing and guiding his children. He relates it to his past as a camp counselor, noting, \\”I teach my kids things all the time… I love anything that I can do to add value to them… it feeds me.\\”

Adding to the lineup, Joe Walsh from the Eagles will also join this season as a mega mentor for Team Reba and Team Niall, bringing further star power and expertise to the show.
