Beyoncé, famed for her dazzling performances and iconic status as a pop superstar, continues to blend personal life with her professional career — especially when joined on stage by her children.
During her 2023 Renaissance World Tour, the Grammy-winning artist shared the spotlight with her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, born in January 2012. At the time, speculation swirled that Beyoncé was acting as a typical “stage mom,” pushing Blue into the limelight. But Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé set the record straight.
“Blue told me she was ready to perform, and I told her no,” Beyoncé explained.
“I did not think it was an appropriate place for an 11-year-old on a stadium stage. All the things I had to go through and obstacles I had to overcome prepared me, and she hasn’t had that struggle. I made a deal with her, and I said, ‘If you practice and you show your commitment, I’ll let you do one show.’”
That one show became many. Blue’s dedication earned her a recurring spot on the tour and further appearances on the Cowboy Carter Tour in 2025. She was often joined by her younger sister Rumi, born in June 2017 alongside her twin brother Sir. Though not yet performing, Rumi enjoys the attention.
Their grandmother, Tina Knowles, recalled at a May 2025 Matriarch book event in Brooklyn:
“I said, ‘How do you feel when you wave and everybody screams?’ She said, ‘It feels powerful.’”
