The final chapter in Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness’s enduring marriage is nearly complete. The couple’s divorce, which has been quietly progressing for nearly two years, now awaits only a judge’s signature to be finalized.
According to People, the proceedings advanced after Furness’s lawyer, Elena Karabatos, filed the necessary documentation addressing their divorce settlement and medical child support agreements. The former couple, married since 1996, share two children — Oscar and Ava.
The Daily Mail was first to report that 69-year-old Furness filed the papers in New York, signaling the end of a relationship that has been publicly celebrated for nearly three decades. The terms of the divorce are uncontested, indicating that both Jackman and Furness have come to a mutual and thoughtful decision.
Back in September 2023, the pair issued a heartfelt joint statement to People, reflecting on their journey together: “We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”
Sources close to the couple describe the separation as amicable yet emotional. Though no longer romantically involved, Jackman and Furness remain committed to co-parenting and preserving their deep bond as a family.
In recent public appearances, the effects of their separation have become more visible. Furness attended the 2025 Parsons Benefit alone in New York City, while Jackman has been seen walking with actress Sutton Foster, with whom he has been linked since January.

Furness also made headlines when she was spotted with daughter Ava at the 2025 Australian Open. During a screening of her new film, Force of Nature: The Dry 2, Furness spoke candidly about her emotional journey. “What I’ve learned is that I’m strong and resilient. We are all a constant evolution,” she shared.
Meanwhile, Jackman continues to thrive professionally. He’s currently performing in the off-Broadway production Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Class and is headlining a concert series at Radio City Music Hall titled From New York, with Love, running through October.
Although their marriage may be officially ending, Jackman and Furness leave behind a legacy of enduring love, mutual respect, and personal growth — a bond that continues to inspire those who have followed their journey.
