Kanye West, Michael B. Jordan.
As the much publicized trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs commenced in New York City, the courtroom drama escalated when the names of numerous renowned celebrities surfaced during jury selection, sparking widespread intrigue. From May 5 onwards, potential jurors were rigorously evaluated on their familiarity with several prominent figures, including Kanye West and Dawn Richard, once a part of the girl group Danity Kane. Although some, like Kanye, had professional ties with Diddy, it piqued curiosity why names like actor and comedian Mike Myers appeared on the list.
On May 6, as jury selection moved forward, Judge Arun Subramanian amended his questioning approach, moving from asking whether potential jurors were familiar with the celebrities’ names to inquiring if they personally know any of them.
Arrested in September 2024, Diddy faces grave charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation for prostitution purposes. He entered a not guilty plea, vehemently refuting all allegations against him.
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the US Attorney’s Office,” remarked Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, at the time. “He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
Post arrest, Diddy has been lodged at the Metropolitan Detention Center, Brooklyn. His pleas for bail met with consistent rejection from Judge Subramanian.
Below is a breakdown of each celebrity’s unexpected highlighting in Diddy’s trial:
Michael B. Jordan

Michael B. Jordan, previously linked romantically to Diddy’s former girlfriend Cassie, finds his name embroiled amidst the proceedings. Cassie’s November 2023 lawsuit against Diddy brings Jordan into the spotlight, referencing her past relationship with him. Diddy and Cassie reached an out of court settlement, with Diddy denying all accusations. During Cassie’s May 15 testimony, she stated she started dating Jordan in 2015 after learning Diddy had allegedly cheated on her while she was working in South Africa. Consequently, she broke up with Diddy and grew close to Jordan. Although she eventually married Alex Fine in 2019, the past with Jordan remained a key narrative.
Harve Pierre
A record executive associated with Bad Boy Entertainment, Pierre was mentioned by Richard during testimony on May 19 as someone who witnessed Diddy’s mistreatment of Cassie.
Mike Myers
Mike Myers’ inclusion in the jury questionnaire list remains a mystery, though USA Today speculates it may stem from a passing Diddy reference in one of Myers’ Austin Powers films.
Dallas Austin
Music producer Dallas Austin, ex partner to Diddy’s late partner Kim Porter, was also mentioned.
Dawn Richard
Dawn Richard, formerly of Danity Kane, filed a lawsuit against Diddy for sexual assault and battery in September 2024. Diddy denied these claims. Richard testified on May 16 and May 19, describing alleged abuse by Diddy and his behavior toward Cassie.
Michelle Williams
Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child was referenced during jury questioning, with jurors asked if they were familiar with her.
Kanye West
Kanye West, who released a song with Diddy shortly after Diddy’s arrest, was listed in connection to Diddy’s professional history.
Kid Cudi

Cassie’s lawsuit included a shocking claim that Diddy reacted violently to her 2012 involvement with Kid Cudi, even causing an explosion that destroyed Cudi’s car. Cudi’s spokesperson confirmed the story as true. Cudi testified on May 22, recounting not only the car explosion but a 2011 incident where Diddy allegedly broke into his home.
Cassie
Cassie testified from May 13 to May 16 about her years with Diddy, from 2007 to 2018, describing abuse and trauma. CNN reportedly has video evidence from 2016 showing Diddy assaulting Cassie in a hotel. Jurors were asked if they had seen the footage.
Laurieann Gibson
Dance choreographer Laurieann Gibson was named during Richard’s testimony as someone she contacted to rejoin Diddy’s orbit after leaving his label.
Lauren London
Lauren London praised Diddy’s support following Nipsey Hussle’s death, which was referenced in court.
Usher
Usher was mentioned by Richard in connection with a 2010 restaurant incident where Diddy allegedly punched Cassie.
Wiz Khalifa
Wiz Khalifa’s 2011 “Black and Yellow” video, which featured Cassie, was cited as evidence against prosecution claims about her stalled career.
Suge Knight
Former assistant David James testified that Diddy once ordered staff to confront Suge Knight at a diner. Cassie said Diddy gave her a firearm to carry during the failed confrontation.
50 Cent
On May 27, Capricorn Clark testified about tension between Diddy and 50 Cent, recalling a comment Diddy made in an MTV interview: “I don’t like all the back and forth. I like guns.” 50 Cent later joked on Instagram, “Wait a minute Puffy’s got a gun, I can’t believe this I don’t feel safe LOL.”
