Denise Richards’ estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, has spoken out following his unexpected arrest on allegations of spousal abuse.
Phypers Addresses Arrest
Aaron Phypers, who was detained at the end of a day in family court on October 17, 2025, has been released on bail. The details of his arrest were shared by his spokesperson with Us Weekly on October 18.
\\”We can confirm that Aaron Phypers was, in fact, arrested near the end of the family law court day on October 17, 2025, and was later released on bail,\\” his spokesperson told Us Weekly.
The spokesperson added that they haven’t seen the criminal complaint but suspect it may stem from past accusations by Denise Richards.
\\”We have not seen the criminal complaint, but we believe that it is most likely based upon the some of the same false accusations that Denise Richards has brought against Mr. Phypers in the family law domestic violence proceeding, which she claims occurred nearly four years ago. If so, we expect that the evidence will demonstrate Mr. Phypers’ innocence and that he will be acquitted.\\”
Inside the Courtroom Drama
The arrest took place after a hearing where both Phypers and Richards testified about her request to extend a restraining order against him. Eyewitnesses in the Los Angeles courthouse reported the surprising chain of events.
\\”He’s been arrested outside the court and taken down a nearby escalator. [He] did not come back into [the] hallway,\\” noted an eyewitness.
Richards was reportedly calm during the incident, talking with her legal team, while Phypers and his lawyers appeared bewildered. Phypers was eventually released on a $200,000 bond and was seen taking a photo with his bailperson upon release.
Rising Tensions and Allegations
Richards publicly accused Phypers of domestic violence while filing for a restraining order in July. She alleges that Phypers was violently abusive during their eight-year marriage.
\\”Aaron would frequently violently choke me, violently squeeze my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently slap me in my face and head,\\” she claimed in court documents.
Richards’ accusations paint a harsh picture of her marriage, including allegations of threats and hacking.
\\”[He would] aggressively slam my head into the bathroom towel rack, threaten to kill me, hold me down with his knee on my back to the point where I would have to plead with him to get off me so that he would not kill me and hack into my laptop and phone and download all of my text messages,\\” Richards further alleged.
Phypers has firmly denied the accusations.
\\”I have the real evidence,\\” Phypers previously stated. \\”I want to address recent rumors and speculation… Let me be unequivocally clear: I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone.\\”
Courtroom Proceedings Continue
During Friday’s court session, testimony was heard from Phypers’ mother, Patricia, who claimed to witness Richards throwing a \\”can opener\\” at Aaron. She stated she never saw him act violently towards Richards. A decision about the restraining order has been postponed, with another hearing set for November 7.
Personal Histories
Richards and Phypers began their relationship in 2017, following Phypers’ divorce from actress Nicollette Sheridan. They married in 2018 in a ceremony featured on Bravo’s \\”The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.\\” Richards was formerly married to Charlie Sheen; they share two daughters, Sami and Lola, and Richards has an adopted daughter, Eloise.
