Brad Pitt has intensified his legal battle with ex-wife Angelina Jolie over their co-owned French winery, Château Miraval.1 In a new legal maneuver, Pitt is demanding private communications from Alexey Oliynik, an executive at the Stoli Group, asserting that Oliynik possesses crucial insights into Jolie’s controversial 2021 sale of her share of the winery to Tenute del Mondo, Stoli’s wine division.2
According to court documents filed on June 30 and acquired by PEOPLE, Pitt, 61, contends that Oliynik has “firsthand knowledge” of the transaction but has consistently refused to comply with requests for document turnover or deposition appearance, citing his Swiss residency as a defense. Pitt’s lawyers argue that these requests “go directly to key assertions about Pitt’s opposition to the sale” and “easily fulfill the discoverability criteria, given Pitt’s claim that Jolie maliciously sold to Stoli, despite knowing his objections.”3
The ongoing dispute stems from Pitt’s February 2022 lawsuit, where he accused Jolie, 50, of violating an agreement that mandated mutual consent before any sale of their shares in the winery.4 In response, Jolie filed a countersuit in September 2022, alleging that Pitt has been “waging a vindictive war against her” since her 2016 divorce filing.5
Pitt and Jolie, who were married for two years after a 12-year relationship, finalized their divorce in December 2024.6 They share six children: Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 16.7
Jolie’s legal representatives have previously asserted in court documents that Pitt’s refusal to purchase her winery shares stemmed from her rejection to sign a non-disclosure agreement.8 This NDA, they claim, was purportedly designed to suppress her accusations of his alleged abusive behavior during a 2016 private jet altercation.9 While authorities did not charge Pitt after investigations, Jolie opted against filing charges at the time.10
In May 2024, a legal ruling mandated Jolie to disclose eight years’ worth of non-disclosure agreements.11 This ruling aims to demonstrate that Jolie has employed similar NDAs in other contexts, countering her argument that Pitt’s proposed NDA was an attempt to silence her about abuse.
A source close to Jolie has conveyed to PEOPLE that she wishes Pitt would “move on,” emphasizing that the ongoing winery litigation prevents the family from achieving the “peace and healing they profoundly seek and merit.” Conversely, those aligned with Pitt contend that the legal strife instigated by Jolie has inflicted “immense collateral damage upon all within and linked to the family.”
