Martin Scorsese and the Virgin Mary
The highly anticipated new season is set to premiere in November 2025 and promises to captivate audiences through to the spring of 2026, perfectly bookending the cherished Christmas and Easter periods. This season will once again delve deep into Christian tales with episodes devoted to the lives of the Virgin Mary, Saint Peter, Saint Carlo Acutis, Saint Patrick, Saint Paul, Saint Longinus, Saint Lucia, and Saint Thomas Becket. As per Fox Nation, the show will continue its mission to showcase the extraordinary virtues of these saints, focusing on their acts of kindness, selflessness, and sacrifice.
The series, crafted by creator Matti Leshem, with Scorsese at the helm, was developed for Lionsgate Alternative Television. Jason Klarman, the chief digital officer and chief marketing officer for Fox News Media, expressed the network’s commitment to meeting the audience’s fervent demand, proclaiming, “It was evident our subscribers wanted more, and we delivered. We’re thrilled to welcome back Mr. Scorsese for season two of The Saints; it truly has been a remarkable partnership.”
Scorsese, whose passion for depicting the saints’ lives has long been known, shared his enthusiasm, “For many years, I dreamed of telling stories of the lives of the saints. It’s been an obsession of mine for as long as I can remember. So the chance to do this series meant the world to me, and it’s heartening to know that people have responded to it. I’m very excited to be coming back for a second season.”

Directed by a talented team comprising Leshem and Elizabeth Chomko, with scripts penned by Kent Jones, a trusted collaborator of Scorsese, season one had already set new benchmarks. Joining Scorsese and Leshem in executive production were industry stalwarts Craig Piligian, Julie Yorn, Rick Yorn, and Christopher Donnelly. The production was a collaborative effort between Lionsgate, Sikelia Productions, Weimaraner Republic Pictures, and LBI Entertainment.
Season one marked a milestone for Fox Nation, shattering previous viewership and engagement records. The episodes chronicled remarkable figures such as Joan of Arc, John the Baptist, Saint Sebastian, Maximillian Kolbe, Francis of Assisi, Mary Magdalene, and Moses the Black, drawing millions of unique views and becoming the most-watched series during each new episode’s release window.
