Corinne Foxx, Annalise Bishop and Jamie Foxx attend the 26th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium on January 19, 2020 in Los Angeles, California.
On Tuesday, June 10, the 57-year-old actor took to Instagram to share a series of heartfelt photos and videos. These included snippets from a touching moment at the BET Awards, where he publicly acknowledged the unwavering support he received from his daughters following a life-threatening stroke in April 2023.
Foxx specifically honored his 16-year-old daughter, Anelise. In his Instagram tribute, he expressed his gratitude for her care and presence during his recovery, stating, “Anelise Estelle Foxx… my baby girl… Words simply haven’t been invented to properly thank you.”

Foxx continued, “I understand that being my daughter isn’t always easy. But you handle it with grace, strength… and such amazing coolness. Only God knows what cosmic agreement was made when you took up that guitar.”
“I am forever indebted and grateful,” he added. “You transcended medicine with a miracle. I eagerly await the day when the world hears your music, knowing you’ll touch hearts as profoundly as you’ve touched mine. Even as tears drift me to sleep, I just want to say I love you.”
Foxx also penned a heartfelt message to his older daughter, Corinne, 31, whom he lovingly described as holding “my whole heart.”
“Gazing into the audience and seeing you last night felt nothing short of angelic,” he wrote. “Thank you for saving me… and for your protection. I love you.”
In accepting the Ultimate Icon Honor award at the ceremony, Foxx took a special moment to address his daughters, declaring, “I owe thanks to my family.”
“Corinne, my remarkable daughter – there’s so much I want to express,” the emotional father remarked. “You’ve often stepped aside, but when it was time to take the wheel, you drove with determination. You ensured my survival, and I’m not about to stop shedding these grateful tears just yet.”
Turning to Anelise, Foxx said, “Pardon me… Anelise, my special girl with the big hair. It might be her shield, but she has something truly unique. You’re incredibly beautiful.”
Reflecting on his near-fatal ordeal, Foxx recalled, “While I was fighting for my life, they warned I might not pull through due to critical vitals. Despite my concerns, Anelise snuck into my hospital room, armed with her guitar. ‘I know what my daddy needs,’ she confidently said.”
He shared that as she strummed, his vitals improved dramatically. “God was in that guitar,” marvels Foxx. “The nurses rushed in, puzzled. ‘What was he given?’ they asked. Anelise simply replied, ‘Shh, I got it.’” Indeed, he praises, “God is good, all the time.”
In 2023, Foxx faced a precarious medical emergency, suffering from a brain bleed that resulted in a stroke during the filming of Back in Action. He recounts this terrifying experience in his comedy special, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…, currently available on Netflix.
