Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy and Johnny Flynn
Announced on Monday, the series will feature acclaimed actor and musician Johnny Flynn stepping into the shoes of the infamous Lucius Malfoy, while fresh face Lox Pratt takes on the role of Draco Malfoy, adding a new chapter to the saga of the Slytherin icons.
Following the casting announcement, Isaacs, known for his portrayal of Lucius in the iconic films, expressed his support on X, praising Flynn as “a fantastic actor, a lovely man and, irritatingly, a rather brilliant musician too.” Isaacs jestingly added, “Couldn’t have handed the snake-topped baton on to anyone better. Just please don’t make him sing…”
In parallel, Harry Potter aficionados were thrilled by another piece of news last week: the return of Tom Felton, the original Draco, to his magical roots. Felton will reprise his role on Broadway in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The show is set to kick off on November 11, marking a 19-week engagement that concludes on March 22, 2026.
Felton made an appearance at the Tony Awards, where he also served as a presenter. Isaacs, who remains connected to his onscreen son, confirmed his plans to see Felton on Broadway through an X post, “Saw you presenting on the Tonys tonight son you looked good, sounded good and did great. Tickets booked for November x.”
Ahead of the Tony Awards, Felton shared his thoughts with The Hollywood Reporter, reflecting on how the timing is perfect for him to embrace Draco once more. “Now, it’s very much reprising the role, but also creating a new one because he’s a father now. He doesn’t want to make the same mistakes that Lucius made with Draco,” Felton stated, highlighting the dual challenges and excitement of bringing new dimensions to his character.
As the curtain rises on these exciting developments, fans of the wizarding world eagerly await the performances that aim to recapture the magic of J.K. Rowling’s universe, this time … with a fresh wave of talent leading the charge.
