Appearing on the May 27 episode of Good Hang with Amy Poehler, the 25 year old Sex Lives of College Girls star recalled her initial fascination with Bird, 26, whom she described as “so f—— cool” long before they ever met. Rapp admitted she admired Bird from afar and eventually convinced a mutual friend to introduce them, despite warnings that Bird might not be into new people.
“I couldn’t give a f— less,” Rapp laughed. “I’m not either, but I’m gonna meet her. We need to at least be friends.”
When the two finally did meet, sparks didn’t exactly fly — at least not in the traditional way. “She was so f—— mean to me,” Rapp recalled, bursting into laughter. “She’s scary. Her humor is so British and sharp, super different from mine. She’s such a bitch,” Rapp joked, clearly smitten.
One early exchange stood out to her: “I was like, ‘I’ve heard things about you,’ and she said, ‘Then why are you talking about me so much?’” Guest host Amy Poehler summed it up perfectly, saying, “She was really negging you.”
Despite the frosty introduction, their chemistry simmered beneath the sarcasm. Rapp shared that it was Bird who first dropped the L word during a beach hangout when both were “high out of our minds.” Initially stunned, Rapp asked her to repeat it, only to get an exasperated, “Are you f—— kidding me right now?” She promptly said it back.
Their love story became public in March 2024 when they made their red carpet debut as a couple at Vanity Fair’s Oscars afterparty, fresh off the end of Rapp’s Snow Hard Feelings Tour. Since then, the pair’s connection has only deepened. In a separate interview with Euphoria Magazine, Bird praised Rapp’s authenticity and said the tour was “transformative” for both her music and her heart.
Before her relationship with Bird, Rapp had been linked to TikTok star Alissa Carrington. That relationship ended in February 2024 after nearly a year of dating.
What began with playful insults and a bit of mutual defiance has blossomed into a refreshingly candid and undeniably romantic partnership.
