Patrick Schwarzenegger
The talented actor has secured a role in the highly-anticipated film Love of Your Life, sharing the spotlight with none other than a dazzling actress. Deadline revealed on June 10 that Patrick, at the age of 31, will grace the Amazon MGM Studios film alongside Margaret Qualley. Rachel Morrison will bring her directorial vision to the movie with a script by Julia Cox. Behind the scenes, the production powerhouses include Ryan Gosling and Jessie Henderson under their Open Invite Entertainment banner. The cast further expanded with Aaron Pierre joining on June 11, as reported by the outlet.
While details surrounding the plot are largely under lock and key, The Hollywood Reporter disclosed that the film orbits around a young woman, portrayed by Qualley, who, after the loss of her husband, embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Patrick will enact the role of “an old friend and ex,” with shooting scheduled in engaging European locales starting August.
This exciting development follows swiftly after Patrick’s standout performance in the third season of The White Lotus, where he delivered a memorable portrayal of Saxon Ratliff. The character not only captivated but also unsettled fans as it traversed the complex thematic waters guided by creator Mike White.
Adding to his expanding portfolio of roles, Patrick has received steadfast support from his legendary father, Arnold Schwarzenegger. During Variety‘s engaging “Actors on Actors” series, the duo reminisced about Patrick’s nerve-testing yet bold choice to strip down for the role, a move reminiscent of Arnold’s own daring performances. Arnold, reminiscing fondly in a video dated June 3, humorously recalled, “I couldn’t believe [it]. I said to myself, ‘I’m watching your show, and I’m watching your butt sticking out there.’ And all of a sudden, I see the weenie. What is going on here? This is crazy,” he jested. He then self-reflectively mused, “Then I said to myself, ‘Well, Arnold, hello. You did the same thing in Conan [the Barbarian] and Terminator, so don’t complain about it.’ But it was a shock to me that you were following my footsteps so closely.”
Patrick warmly responded with admiration for cinema giants, likening his White Lotus experience to his father’s collaborations, noting, “Oh, yeah. I guess the similarity from Terminator to White Lotus was that you were working on a project with James Cameron, who is one of the greatest directors of all time,” Patrick remarked. “For me, it was a blessing to work with the writer, the director, the creator of White Lotus because Mike does everything. Same with James Cameron, right?” Arnold’s high regard for cinematic collaboration remained palpable, highlighting, “Michael White he’s a fantastic director and a writer, just like Jim Cameron,” Arnold extolled. “They have a very clear vision.”
In an interview with Extra on June 11, Arnold candidly shared that he has abstained from coaching Patrick too intensely in his acting career. “He never asked me for advice … Everyone has a different way of going about the acting career … I had mine and he has his, and that was what made the Variety [talk an] interesting kind of a discussion between me and my son, is because it was really about me talking about, ‘This is the way it was 50 years ago when I started, and this is the way it is for you now,’ and what are the differences and approaches, and all that,” Arnold reflected.
It’s clear that the journey of Patrick Schwarzenegger in Hollywood continues to soar, buoyed by talent, opportunity, and the familial bond that inspires courage and independence in equal measure.
