According to police statements, James Politoski, 64, was guiding his 15 year old daughter who held only a learner’s permit, when their vehicle veered out of control. While attempting to navigate from the upper level of Gelson’s Market parking lot, the car reportedly crashed through a barrier and descended down an embankment before finally stopping near Coast Highway.
Emergency responders were called to the scene around 2:43 p.m. on Monday, May 26. Tragically, Politoski was pronounced dead on site. His daughter suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
