Chrissy Teigen has shed light on the reason behind her recent hospital visit, which had sparked concern among fans after she appeared on Instagram Live with visible bandages on her face. On Friday, May 23, the 39-year-old shared a candid Instagram Story from her hospital bed, revealing that the procedure was cosmetic in nature and not cause for alarm.
“Hi friends! A lot of you were worried about my hospital pic, which is very understandable since I gave no explanation lol,” Teigen wrote. She went on to explain, “I had a hairline lowering procedure. I lost a lot of hair in the front from having babies, and it’s just very thin up there. When you see me on a red carpet, it’s ALWAYS extensions.”
In the post, Teigen included a close-up of her hairline to illustrate the area treated, and reassured followers that she plans to share more details soon. “Anyhow, I’ll share more later if you’re interested in the journey — because it really is a journey,” she added.
The update comes after her recent Instagram Live session left viewers puzzled and concerned, as Teigen appeared on camera with her head wrapped in bandages. Comments like “You okay?” and “Surgery face, oh girl,” reflected her fans’ worry.
Teigen has long been transparent about her cosmetic procedures. Back in 2021, she revealed she’d undergone buccal fat removal, a treatment to slim the cheeks, sharing the process via Instagram Story. “I did that Dr. Diamond buccal fat removal thing here,” she said at the time, pointing to her cheeks. She captioned the clip with a candid note: “No shame in my Dr. Diamond game.”
She has also previously spoken openly about having breast implants at around age 20, explaining to Glamour UK in 2020 that it was partly due to her modeling career. “I thought, if I’m going to be posing laid on my back, I want them to be perky!”
Now a mother of four — Luna (9), Miles (7), Esti (2), and Wren (1) — Teigen reflects on how motherhood has changed her relationship with her body. “Then you have babies, and they fill up with milk and deflate, and now I am screwed,” she said with trademark humor and honesty.
