Luis Miguel Huitron Campos.
A 25-year-old man from Washington is now at the center of a chilling and complex double murder case, accused of fatally shooting his father and brother before setting their home ablaze to cover up the crime.
Luis Miguel Huitron Campos faces two counts of first-degree aggravated murder and one count of first-degree arson following the horrific deaths of his father, Oliverio Huitron-Rosalez, 64, and brother, Alejandro Huitron Campos, 31.
The bodies were discovered in the charred remains of their home in Gig Harbor, Washington, after a blaze broke out on April 8. Firefighters responding to the scene found both men had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The Pierce County medical examiner confirmed the deaths as homicides.
Disturbingly, Oliverio had carbon monoxide in his system, indicating he may have still been alive when the fire started. His body bore both burn injuries and a close-range gunshot wound. Alejandro’s hands were locked in a defensive position, suggesting he fought back before his execution-style death.
Investigators found critical evidence: a shell casing, a lighter, and a gas can—all indicators of intentional arson.
Cell phone records and interviews pointed to Luis’s proximity to the scene. He had obtained a concealed pistol license in December 2024, and ballistic analysis confirmed the shell casing and a bullet matched a weapon associated with him.
After weeks of silence, Luis was finally arrested on May 20. His absence from his family members’ memorials and failure to return messages raised red flags. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest in a Facebook post, triggering widespread media attention.
Family members told investigators they had tried to contact Luis after the fire but received no response. His elusiveness and lack of public mourning only deepened suspicions.
Adding to the intrigue, Oliverio had recently requested to withdraw $100,000 in retirement funds. With an ongoing renovation on property in Mexico and a history of investment, financial motives are being closely examined.
Luis was arraigned on May 21, where he pleaded not guilty. A judge set his bail at $5 million, underscoring the severity of the charges.
What led to this unimaginable act? As the legal battle unfolds, investigators continue to piece together a puzzle of grief, betrayal, and buried motives.
