Sarah Jessica Parker in 'And Just Like That...'.
Sarah Jessica Parker is once again making waves in the fashion world as she steps confidently into the third season of And Just Like That. During the season premiere on Thursday, May 29, her now-famous “cloud hat” turned heads and ignited a flurry of social media commentary. The whimsical headpiece quickly became one of the most talked-about style moments of the episode.
Parker, 60, who has long been known for her daring wardrobe choices both on and off screen, revealed in a recent interview that she personally pushed for the hat’s inclusion in the show. She brought the idea to executive producer Michael Patrick King, believing the piece would enhance her character’s visual storytelling.
In the premiere episode, Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw pairs the oversized Maryam Keyhani gingham hat with a striped dress, creating a bold and fashion-forward ensemble. “I saw the hat and wanted it on my head,” Parker told USA Today. She added, “At this point, there’s no pretend dilly-dallying around. We pretty much just put stuff on my head and photograph it, hoping Michael Patrick is receptive to the idea.”

Parker shared that the outfit felt incomplete without the accessory, explaining, “Once you’ve put a lot of hats on your head, you feel like it’s missing its punctuation point.” She added that the look felt destined for a perfect summer day. “It felt like the period at the end of the sentence. I loved it, and Michael Patrick agreed.”
Michael Patrick King echoed the sentiment, predicting the hat would spark conversation and potentially go viral. “It’s like, ‘Hey everybody, we’re back. Here’s a hat that Carrie would wear eating sherbet in Washington Square Park. Why not?’” he said. “I’ve learned sometimes logic is not as good as a hat. It makes people say, ‘I love it. I hate it. Oh my God, what was she thinking?’”
King also hinted that the hat could take on a life of its own beyond the show. “It’ll be a thing. People will wear it at Halloween. It’s always fun, but with that hat in particular, I had to call up some of the writers and say, ‘Get ready. Once it’s on the head, it’s not coming off.’”
Parker’s bold fashion choices continue to influence pop culture and style. Kristin Davis, her co-star on the show, even mentioned on her podcast Are You a Charlotte? that she often needs to plan her outfits around Parker’s statement looks. “I need to know what Sarah Jessica’s gonna wear to our different events because she might be wearing something way dressier than what I pictured, and I hate to be out of sync with her,” Davis admitted.
